Requirements for Electrical Contractors License:
On 1 January 2009 the Regulation and Supervision Bureau (RSB) now known as Department of Energy (DOE) published Revision 1 of The Electricity Wiring Regulations 2007 for the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The purpose of these Regulations is to establish standards and principles that promote the design, construction and operation of safe and efficient systems of wiring in buildings and other premises.
The Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) and Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) currently carries out assessment and licensing of electrical contracting companies covering electrical installation work in buildings / premises (Resolution No. 11 2002).
The Department of Energy (DOE) has introduced a new requirement for all licensed companies to register a qualified engineer as representative and signature authority for their company. Such engineers will be required to attend the “Electricity Wiring Regulations Course E1” (6 days) and pass an examination.
This requirement takes effect from 1 September 2009 and has been updated on April 2020, company licenses will not be renewed after this date without a registered engineer.
